Its quality is defined by a combination of colour, consistency of the crystalline structure and impurities (i.e. mineral deposits and veining). An extra is the cleanest quality rating. Sealing this stone is recommended to extend its longevity.

Marble is not resistant to acidic substances or scratches, so extra care is required when using it for kitchen worktops.
